Same reason they sterilize the needle used to give a lethal injection. Same reason they save the life of someone on death row when they try to commit suicide. Same reason we park on the driveway and drive on the parkway.

Because lemons are good for washing. They work in washing.
Same reason dish soap costs more than lemonade?
Because after they made the dish-washing liquid there were no real lemons left.
