Why is it so hard to find gunpowder safety information online?

I've done tons of online searching and can't find one complete, comprehensive site about gunpowder safety and handling. What gives? Why is it so hard to find gunpowder safety information online?
Could be b/c few people directly handle gunpowder as opposed to the products that gunpowder are used in.

Wiki had some basic information. the second link had some more information.

I would suggest looking into the Dept of Transportation... they regulate the ';safe'; transportation of explosives and would probably have detailed info on safe handling of gunpowder.

Good LuckWhy is it so hard to find gunpowder safety information online?
Unless you're searching on the safety precautions in relation to some specific use of gunpowder (e.g., fireworks manufacture, ammunition reloading, muzzle loading firearms), the safety precautions will refer to ';explosives'; generically without singling out gunpowder specifically.

There's also a pretty wide variation in local laws regarding purchase and storage by private individuals... so a ';complete, comprehensive site'; would be rather cumbersome to keep up-to-date.

Try searching using terms related more specifically to your intended use of the gunpowder.

A gun-shop or sporting goods store in your area that is actually selling the stuff will probably be able to answer your questions with regards to the local requirements for legal storage and handling.
I guess you have to know where to look. (I don't but my husband is a firearms instructor, loads his own amo, etc. and gave me all this good stuff.) Gunpowder is the term given to a mechanical mixture of saltpeter, charcoal and sulfur, otherwise known as black powder. Here are several web sites for you:

(The obove web site has a main page but links on the left. Click on ';handling precautions';.)

For a smokeless powder manual on loading %26amp; reloading with safety instructions go to: http://hodgdon.com/PDF/Hodgdon%20Basic%2鈥?/a> (the safety instructions start on page 5)

If you have or are looking for info on a specific gunpowder/black powder get the manufacturer's name from the cantainer and go to their web site. If one isn't given you can usually google it by typing www.manufacturername.com

Just some general info. Store gunpowder in its original container, keep it capped when not using, don't store it near heat, store in a cool, dry place and don't store powder and primers together. Some cities have specific rules for the storage of gun powder so you should probably check on that. Safety instructions are very important as black powder and gun powder are different: black powder is an explosive and gun powder in a propellant so handling precautions are extremely important. Hope this helps.
I dont no
Avoid contact with flame...that should suffice...
